Where events come alive — your island community guide.
The world's leading ocean photography exhibition, Ocean Photographer of the Year, comes to the United States for the very first time — and Alameda is its home. Step inside the historic World War II airplane Hangar 41 at Alameda Point and experience the ocean like never before.
Presented by Oceanographic Magazine and Blancpain, this vast industrial space is transformed into an immersive gallery drawn from more than 15,000 submissions by photographers around the globe. The exhibition spans categories including Wildlife, Fine Art, Adventure, Conservation, Human Connection, and the prestigious Female Fifty Fathoms Award.
Alongside the international exhibition, visitors can explore the Bay Perspectives gallery featuring local ocean photography of the San Francisco Bay, and hands-on marine science exhibits from the Sailing Science Center.
Throughout the run, additional Thursday and Friday evening events are curated by the West End Arts District — including science storytelling from the SF Estuary Institute, ocean compositions by cellist Mia Pixley, stories from Josie Iselin's Curious World of Seaweed, and a sunset photo cruise on San Francisco Bay.
