Where events come alive — your island community guide.
The world's leading ocean photography exhibition makes its United States debut inside historic World War II Hangar 41 at Alameda Point. Ocean Photographer of the Year, presented by Oceanographic Magazine and Blancpain, transforms this vast industrial space into an immersive celebration of the beauty, power, and fragility of our blue planet.
Drawn from more than 15,000 submissions by photographers around the globe, the exhibition features a curated selection of winning and finalist images spanning wildlife, adventure, fine art, conservation, and human connection — from intimate macro encounters to sweeping underwater and aerial perspectives.
Alongside the international exhibition, visitors can explore the Bay Perspectives Gallery — a dedicated local gallery connecting global ocean stories to the San Francisco Bay. The Sailing Science Center also presents hands-on marine science exhibits on tides, wave formation, and the impacts of marine plastics.
Throughout the run, West End Arts District presents evening programs on Thursdays and Fridays including science storytelling from the San Francisco Estuary Institute, ocean-inspired compositions by cellist Mia Pixley, stories from Josie Iselin's Curious World of Seaweed, and a sunset photo cruise hosted by East Bay Photo Lab Collective and San Francisco Bay Ferry.
